Call for experts

We are pleased to announce that the SEMLIB project (FP7-SME-2010-1-SEMLIB 262301) launched a call for independent international experts in the field of digital libraries. Selected individuals will provide expertise in support of the evaluation of the the project activities and help the consortium to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for applying its technologies.

Expert Activities

Selected experts will:

  • meet virtually among themselves and with the project partners, three times every six months to analyze the current status of the project. The committee will deliver a written report to advice the partners on strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of the project. The report will recommend actions to be taken to exploit the opportunities and to remedy its weaknesses;
  • help the project to disseminate its results by exploiting their personal networks of contacts. The objective is to put project representatives in contact with organizations and individual potentially interested in further exploiting its results;
  • the expert will work in a personal capacity and in performing this function will not represent any organisation/institution;
  • external Experts shall be requested to perform their assignment from their own location;

Qualities of candidate experts

All independent experts must have a high level of professional experience in the public or private sector in one or more of the following areas or activities in the fields of Digital Libraries and Semantic Web technologies:

  1. Research in the relevant scientific fields
  2. Evaluation of projects
  3. Use of the results of research and technological development projects
  4. Technology transfer and innovation
  5. International collaboration

Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality

To ensure that SEMLIB activities are carried out in an independent atmosphere free of direct and indirect pressures, appointed experts will have to declare any potential conflict of interest that may arise in performing their tasks. Throughout their assignment the experts shall demonstrate the appropriate loyalty to duty and fully understand the confidential nature of their task.

Gender policy

SEMLIB follows the policy of the European Commission on gender issues implicating that the expert panel, if possible, should comprise at least 40% of women. To achieve this target, SEMLIB will encourage applications from suitably qualified female experts.

Remuneration

The remuneration of the expert includes the following elements:

  • Reimbursement of travel costs, if any.
  • Daily expert fees and per diems (details will be provided on application).
  • The total remuneration for each expert will not, in any case, exceed 1650eur.
